The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa in the United States under the Immigration & Nationality Act, section 101(a)(15)(H).
It allows U.S. employers to employ foreign guest workers skilled in specialty occupations
if a U.S. citizen or resident is not available.
Technically a US company need you and Visa officer is just layer to who stores your personnal data for their immigration purpose.
But over the years many mis used the system for which they are scrutinizing our records with care.

    Check whether they are the registered Tax Payers
How many employees they have
What is their sucess rate in H-1B stamping and GC approvals
With what companies do they work directly
Will they contribute any thing for your 401K
Discuss the company's bench policy
Try to talk personally to some genuine person in the company.
H-1B employers say many things just lure you like Free Laptop, Free India Ticket, Dental Insurance, Health insurance,
Fast Green card process,
Well these are things to be concerned but not to the extent right now.

Is this first time you are applying for H1?
How many years you have experiences in this area?
Which company you are going to work for?
Is this project inhouse or client.
Talk some thing about your role.
Can you give me the details of your company.(How many employee, Annual turn over...)
What is your level of educations.
Describe in breif about your project.
What the softwares you are familiar with?
Do you have reference letters.
What is your highest level of education and show me the related certificates.
Show me the client letter descring your project.
Talk something about your interview with the client.
How much you are excited about this new assignment.
What is your next step after this conclusion.
When are you planning to come back.
